Rexburg area affected by power outage
UPDATE 11:45 am Electricity to all customers affected by a Thursday morning outage has now been restored. UPDATE 10:45 a.m. Rocky Mountain Power says approximately 390 customers are now affected. Crews have traced the cause of the outage to an underground primary service line that will require repair. It is now estimated that power will be restored to the remaining affected customers by around 3 p.m. UPDATE: 8:55 a.m. Rocky Mountain Power troubleshooters have closed a circuit breaker that caused a power outage and restored electricity to about half of those affected by the incident. There are now approximately 968 customers affected. Crews are working to determine the exact cause of the outage and still estimate full restoration of power at 10:30 a.m. UPDATE: 8:43 a.m. Rocky Mountain Power spokesman Dave Eskelsen said the cause of the outage was an open circuit breaker at the Rexburg substation. A trouble shooter is currently working to determine the exact cause of the incident. At this time, Rocky Mountain Power is estimating power will be restored at around 10:30 a.m. ORIGINAL STORY: Approximately 2,895 customers of Rocky Mountain Power in the Rexburg area lost power at around 8:01 a.m. Thursday. The utility reports it is investigating the cause of the outage at this time.
