Wasden to seek re-election in 2018
Idaho Attorney General Lawrence Wasden announced Thursday he will seek re-election next year. Wasden has held the office for the past 14 years.
In a campaign news release, Wasden said “fighting corruption and keeping our children safe” have been his highest priorities. In 2016, Wasden’s office handled 71 public corruption complaints and conducted 13 preliminary investigations. His Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force conducted 364 investigations of internet sexual predators. Those investigations resulted in 33 arrests and referred 72 cases for prosecution, according to Wasden.
“I am pleased to announce my desire to seek re-election because every day as Idaho’s Attorney General gives me the privilege to serve the people of Idaho and make a positive difference. My lifetime and experience in Idaho helps me understand the unique character of our state. There is more work to be done, and I am looking forward to continuing my work to insure (sic) Idaho’s sovereignty is preserved, Idaho’s citizens are protected, and our businesses enjoy a free competitive marketplace.” said Wasden.
