Sellars Creek trek dedication scheduled
Formal dedication of a new eastern Idaho trek facility is scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday, September 16.
The Sellars Creek Ranch handcart operation is intended to give church members an understanding of life with pioneer handcarts on the Mormon Trail.
The trek is located on a 1,650-acre Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints welfare project, which provides summer grazing for 200 pairs of cows. It is about 30 miles southeast of Idaho Falls and 4 miles south of Bone, Idaho.
It is anticipated over 20,000 youth from 54 LDS stakes will participate in the trekking experience over the next 10 years. The ranch can accommodate up to 450 trekkers at a time and has 60 handcarts available.
Ammon Stake President Randall Hurley will dedicate the property.
