Pocatello wins taste test
Pocatello can lay claim to the region’s best-tasting water.
During the American Water Works Association’s regional conference, the Pocatello Water Department took home the Best of Show title in the water taste test competition. The region includes water systems within southeast Idaho and the entire state of Utah.
Water systems were invited to submit a two-liter sample and judged on a 10-point scale, with 10 being the highest score possible. Winners were selected from three different categories; Best of the Best-Groundwater, Best of the Best-Surface water, and Best of Show.
Pocatello was selected Best of Show. The city is now eligible to compete on a national level at the AWWA’s annual conference and exposition in Las Vegas next June.
“City employees take great pride in delivering safe, clean drinking water to the residents of Pocatello,” said Justin Armstrong, Water Department Superintendent. “I’m excited to say that we can now add best tasting to that list.”
The Pocatello Water Department conducts over 1,500 water quality tests for more than 100 different compounds. Their most recent report is available here.
