Idaho Falls and Blackfoot Mayor races head to runoff elections

Based on un-official election night returns, it appears Blackfoot and Idaho Falls Mayor’s races will be headed to runoff elections within the next 30 days.

In Blackfoot, incumbent Mayor Paul Loomis had approximately 40 percent of the total vote, but needed 50 percent plus one to secure the election. He will face second-place finisher Marc Carroll, who collected 25 percent of the total in a runoff election within the next 30 days.

In Idaho Falls, incumbent Mayor Rebecca Casper had about 47 percent of the total vote. She will face second place finisher Barbara Ehardt in a runoff election on December 5.
