EAS siren tests slated this week
Tests of emergency warning sirens are planned in Idaho Falls and Jackson this week.
In Idaho Falls, Bonneville County Emergency Management will conduct tests of the Emergency Alert System sirens in Ammon and Idaho Falls beginning at noon. The sirens will sound for approximately 45 seconds.
In Jackson, Teton County Emergency Management plans a similar test of its siren system at 10 a.m. on Thursday.
While the upcoming events are tests, emergency managers advised that in the event of an actual emergency, you should tune in to your local news for information and instructions regarding the disaster or emergency.
The sirens are intended to be an outdoor warning system to prompt those who may be away from a television set or other news source, to find out why the siren is going off and what steps you should take next.
