Paintballs, planes – local flying club rallies community for food bank fundraiser

It won’t take long before the group of aeronautic enthusiasts who make up the Desert Eagles RC Club will hand you a remote control, wearing the biggest grins as they get ready to introduce you what they’re most passionate about.

But, the club’s love for flying turned into something deeper when the group decided to put their passion toward a good cause.

This is the second year the group is inviting the community to come out and shoot paintballs at model plains to raise money for the Idaho Food Bank.

Although the club has been trying to grow and raise money to keep their airfield, not a single dime goes toward the club from this event; this is a way for the members to share what they love with the community while turning it into a good cause.

The event is Saturday, June 23 at 10:00 a.m. at the Desert Eagles Flying Field.

It costs $2 for 10 shots, and all proceeds go toward the Idaho Food Bank.

The field is located off exit 113 off of Interstate 15. Head north on New Sweden road and make a left right after Doug Andrus Trucking and follow the road all the way down.

The group is sponsored by Hobby Town USA and insured through the Academy of Model Aeronautics.
