Three fires under attack in East Idaho
The Eastern Idaho Interagency Fire Center was reporting three active range fires Monday. All three were started by lightning, and all fires are estimated to be contained by 6 p.m. Tuesday.
The New Canyon fire was reported Monday about 5 miles southeast of the Malad Summit. One engine was dispatched. It was estimated at about one-tenth of an acre. It was contained at noon Tuesday.
The Gardner Fire was estimated down to around 10 acres Tuesday. One engine, a helicopter, and a 10-person crew were working the fire. It started about 10 miles south of Malad in the Samaria Mountains. Crews estimated containment for 6 p.m. Tuesday.
The Indian Creek Fire was reported Monday afternoon. It was about 3 miles southwest of Inkom and last measured at 60 acres. Five engines, one dozer and one helicopter fought the fire Monday. Crews were securing the fire Tuesday and mopping up. Crews estimated containment for 6 p.m. Tuesday.
