Local Fire Department goes through training in haunted house
Friday is Friday the 13th, so appropriately, the Idaho Falls Firefighters did some training at the D.A.R.E haunted house, the former Dr. Slaughter’s House of Terror.
They maneuvered their way around, under, and through the maze of obstacles as they train with their new self-contained breathing apparatus masks.
Training Chief Jon Perry says he chose the haunted house because he knew it would be a maze and knew they could turn the lights out and it would be pitch black.
“That’s really a big objective with these new air packs is that our people are able to control them and operate them, without looking at them,” Perry said. “They should just built through muscle memory, they shouldn’t have to think about it.”
Friday was training day number 3 of 8. The crew has 130 firefighters and will all go through the training.
