Local business discusses online shopping on Amazon Prime Day
This morning Amazon’s fourth annual Prime Day began, offering consumers deals on countless items.
The event was actually extended this year to be six hours longer than in the past, making it 36 hours to score big savings on millions of items.
But events like this are a constant reminder of how big online shopping has become, especially with companies like Amazon.
Barrie’s Ski and Sports in Pocatello offers the community all of their biking desires during the warmer months, and provides them will all of their skiing needs during the snowier season.
In today’s internet age, most of the items available at Barrie’s can be purchased online. Water bottle mounts, GoPro’s and even bikes can be bought from internet retailers.
But just because it’s easier doesn’t mean it’s better. Cody Nelson, a manager at Barrie’s said, “you never know what you’re gonna get. I mean, I think we’ve all been victims, anybody that’s shopped online.” But in the store, “you get immediate gratification.”
“I’d definitely like to think we help people with the shopping process,” Nelson said.
There is no doubt that online shopping is getting bigger and bigger, as was evident with Amazon’s purchase of Whole Foods last year.
