Free health care program for retired nuclear workers
Those who worked at the Idaho National Laboratory or a uranium mine or around nuclear materials and get certain illnesses are entitled to get full payment for all those medical bills under a federal program.
The program has been around for a while, but a lot of people who are eligible don’t know about it.
One of the things it covers is complete home health care. Twilight Health, which provides home health services for those people affected by these illnesses, held a grand opening in Idaho Falls Thursday. They are hoping to spread the word about the free program.
Former uranium and nuclear workers who have conditions like lung disease, cancer, even Parkinsons, that could be caused by exposure could get a host of free services.
“Whatever their diagnosis is, they can get their prescriptions paid for 100% by the government,” Twilight nursing director, Sherree Reynolds said. They get the in-home care service that’s to maintain their health and keep them in their own home environment as long as they can, transportation back and forth to doctors appointments. All of their doctor’s visits, their hospitalizations for that diagnosis is paid for.”
Under the program, companies like Twilight Health can even hire and pay family members for the care they are already providing to their loved ones at home.
