Reinhart Park swimming pool torn down

The Reinhart Park swimming pool is officially gone. Tuesday, the City of Idaho Falls Parks and Recreation department filled in the retired pool and removed the office and locker rooms.

The city announced the removal back in June, after years of vandalism and deterioration plagued the pool.

Many people online have come forward with their feelings about the removal, even prompting a petition to turn it into a splash pad.

There is a proposal in city councils tentative budget to look at turning it into a splash pad.

“Tomorrow night will be our budget hearing for people to come and give input into the council,” said City of Idaho Falls public information officer, Bud Cranor. “If they have any input on that we certainly invite them to attend and give that input.”

The public hearing is Thursday, August 16 at 7:30 p.m. in the council chambers.

The final budget meeting will be held on August 23.
