Pocatello Habitat for Humanity planning customer appreciation day

As the Pocatello Habitat for Humanity nears its 11th year of service in the Gate City, members of the board are looking to thank the customers for all they’ve done to help out.

Pending board approval, October 13th would be the fun, family-friendly event with food and drinks from local businesses.

A petting zoo along with face painting and balloons are among the attractions aimed at local kids.

Store manager Katie Counts said, “I think it’s really important for our community to show them that we appreciate everything they are doing, to help us keep running as a store. We thrive on donations from them so that we are able to take what we earn in the store and help build homes in the community and help other people.”

The donations from the community are what allows the store to function, and in turn, give back to the community.

“This community has been amazing with bringing us incredible donations that we can give back to the community,” Counts said. “In whole, it’s a great circle of donating.”

Among the things the Habitat is currently working on is the construction of a house for two locals who are struggling to find affordable housing. The couple volunteers in the store and participates in the construction.
