Idaho Falls improving bike lanes

Idaho Falls is adding pavement markings and signs along bicycle routes along 5th and 6th Streets to make connections with bike lanes on John Adams Parkway and, when it’s reconstruction is complete, South Boulevard.

It is part of a larger plan to improve connectively of designated bicycle routes and facilities throughout the city.

This summer’s work includes installation of shared right-of-way (“sharrow”) pavement markings on 5th and 6th between S. Holmes and S. Boulevard, addition of a bike lane on southbound Holmes between 5th and 6th Streets, revisions of bike lanes on John Adams Parkway and additional signs.

The “sharrow” markings on the pavement will remind motorists to expect bicycles on the road. They also give bicyclists confirmation they are riding on their designated place in the road.
