Skyline’s Kenyon Sadiq discusses his commitment to Oregon and how Skyline helped him get there

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (KIFI) - Skyline Wide Receiver Kenyon Sadiq announced his commitment to the Oregon Ducks earlier this season, and Idaho's top recruit surprised many with his decision.

Even with Oregon not making his top three in late July, Kenyon said Eugene was ultimately the right place for him.

"A lot of people didn't see it coming," Sadiq said. "I've been talking to them for a while. I previously released that top three and those are the schools I felt super strongly about. Then, Oregon increased their communication with me, started going hard, built a great relationship, and along with that, I've always been a huge Oregon Ducks fan. So everything just started to align, like they say, when you know, you know, and I just knew I wanted to be a Duck."

The moment Sadiq decided to go to Oregon, which he shared with Ducks Head Coach Dan Lanning, was also surreal for him.

"I was actually on the phone with Coach Lanning, the head coach," Sadiq said. "And we were just having a normal conversation, asking what was going on that week, last week or whatnot, and then all of a sudden I was like, 'you know what, coach, I think I'm going to commit to be an Oregon Duck,' and he was fired up. It made his day and he was jumping around. It was a good time."

Kenyon also added he is grateful to Skyline for helping him reach this point.

"They've done everything for me," Sadiq said. "They improved my football IQ, improved me on and off the field. I'm a better man. They've taught me so much I'll take on when I go to Oregon, and just the principles and basics of being a great person, great football player, what we stand for here at Skyline, something that's really unique. The work ethic it takes to win state championships. It's just something that you can't find anywhere else."

Sadiq will play Tight End for the Ducks starting next fall, and he looks to help the Grizz win a third straight state championship in his senior season before heading to Eugene next year.
