Ivanka Trump and Tim Cook tour Wilder schools
Presidential daughter and Advisor Ivanka Trump joined Apple CEO Tim Cook for a tour of the Wilder School District Tuesday morning. No public news coverage was permitted.
According to the White House, the trip was designed to see how technology is redefining classrooms. In particular, the two promoted an interest in STEM and Computer Science education and how to get some of the country’s most “at-risk” kids into classrooms.
Apple donated iPads to students at the school and sent Macs and iPads to every teacher. Each of the classrooms was also equipped with LCD screens and Apple TV’s.
Last July, Apple signed the White House “Pledge to America’s Workers,” committing to train an additional 10,000 people as part of their ongoing initiatives with community colleges.
While in the schools, 5th and 6th grade students demonstrated a coding game they created while first-graders used Apple’s Clips app to make videos about living and non-living things in science.
