Texas Roadhouse hosts Shop with a Cop luncheon
Once again the community comes together to support the annual shop with a cop event at Texas Road House in Idaho Falls. This event raises a lot of money. This gives the Idaho Falls police department the success they need to be able to take kids out shopping for them and their families. Sargent Bryan Lovell with the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office says, “Kids put into the shop with a cop event are kids that have been around abusive households or domestic violence.” Every year Texas Roadhouse allows the IFPD to come in and help serve, seat, feed, and entertain dinners. In return, all the meals are given at cost. The proceeds they earn in tips and donations go towards raising money to shop with a cop. “Trying to help turn a negative thing into a positive experience with the help of law enforcement and everybody that comes and supports this kinda of event .”, says Lovell. Saturday they will be using those funds to take out around 30 children. Each paired off with a cop to have breakfast at the Eagle’s Lodge and then go do a little Christmas shopping at Target in Ammon. The support for this is huge in the community. Without even asking, they had many local businesses and volunteers from a wide range of groups that either donated or came in to help support the cause. Madison County is also carrying out the shop with a cop event in their area for Saturday. They too are expecting a large turn out in community volunteer support.
