Pedestrian hurt after running into car

A man was taken to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center at around 5:27 p.m. Monday after he was struck by a car near the intersection of 17th Street and Fife.

Idaho Falls Police said the man, who was around 45 years old, was crossing the street without using the crosswalk. According to witnesses, a truck that was traveling west saw the man and slammed on the brakes. The man started running to cross the street and ran into the side of another car that was also westbound in the outside lane.

Police said the man was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. His name has not been released.
