Idaho Falls man sentenced for voluntary manslaughter

Cory James Hix, 41, of Idaho Falls was sentenced to 11 years in prison after pleading guilty to a charge of voluntary manslaughter. He will serve a minimum of two years before he’ll be eligible for parole.

Hix appeared before Seventh District Judge Bruce Pickett Wednesday.

Hix agreed to the plea following the death of his brother Jeremy Ray Hix,39, during a fight at Pockets at 905 E. Lincoln Road in September.

Hix was originally charged with aggravated battery, until his brother died of injuries sustained in the incident.
