A look inside the new temple coming to Pocatello
New artist renderings of the Pocatello Temple made its appearance to the public Friday night.
A meeting was held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints building nearby the temple plot on March 1st.
People were invited to get their first look at the renderings and ask questions.
The architect who is the director of design for temples is a Pocatello native and for this design, he used elements of local nature and a design that he grew up loving.
“As we came to this valley, and I grew up here, so I already knew it, we try to find colors and inspiration to do it.,” said Bill Williamson, the lead architect for the temple. “So architecturally, Pocatello has this wonderful old town, which was the downtown. And some of the most beautiful buildings down there were done by Frank Paradise who was an architect during the 30s. And one of his, it seemed apparent, favorite styles was Art Decos and so we use that as the inspiration for the temple.”
The groundbreaking for the temple is set for March 16th.
