Local non-profits anxiously await donation day
On May 2, non-profits around the state will be accepting donations as part Idaho Gives; however, non-profits accept donations year round, although you might not be aware of it.
“We gladly accept donations from anybody at any time that they would like to donate to the zoo,” Executive Director for the Tautphaus Park Zoological Society Laurie Graveatt said. “But Idaho Gives is a day that is centered for nonprofits and it is an online giving day.”
Idaho Gives is a 24-hour online donation day for non-profits in Idaho. It’s a time to celebrate and support all of their work, a day many look forward to in hopes of spreading awareness for their cause.
“The Tautphaus park zoological society has been part of Idaho Gives for the past 3-4 years,” Graveatt said. “It has been a huge benefit for us to raise money for specific projects, and the reason it is such a great value for us its a day for the public to contribute. A lot of our donations can come through private sectors but this is a day that’s specifically geared towards the public donating.”
This event gives community members a time to actively invest in their community.
“When the community donates towards these non-profits, they’re investing themselves in these infrastructures and the projects that we have and it only proves to make the city a better place, because we’re constantly improving and expanding and growing things”.
As part of Idaho Gives, non-profits will specify a project they are working on, allowing the community to donate towards what they would like to see.
“I think it also brings awareness to the community of the non-profits in your area.”
The goal of Idaho Gives is simple.
“Our main goal is that these organizations get new exposure to new people in their community and that they can bring in some new donors to them,” said Evin Bafk, Program and events manager at the Idaho non-profit center.

Next, you can search for the organization you would like to donate to, if you don’t know a specific one, you can click on “View all participating organizations” to view a list of any registered. 
Lastly, you will click on “Donate” to begin the donating process
No donation goes unnoticed and every cent counts.
