Gas prices down in Idaho…up across the U.S.

Idaho gas prices average $2.92 per gallon Monday, down about 3.6 cents per gallon in the past week, according to Gas Buddy.

Prices today are 19.6 cents per gallon lower than a month ago and 22.1 cents per gallon lower than a year ago.

GasBuddy said the national average price of gas has risen 2.3 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $2.75 per gallon.

It’s the second straight week that national prices have moved higher. Gas Buddy’s head of petroleum analysis Patrick DeHaan blames concerns about Iran, OPEC’s extension of production cuts, and recent drawdowns in U.S. oil inventories.

“Nearly all motorists have seen the rise with an exception in some areas of the West Coast,” said DeHaan. “Look for another week of gradual increases in gasoline prices, but without another round of clearly defined upside in oil prices, we may see this current upward trend begin to slowly fade away in the next few weeks.”
