American Dog Derby Race Wraps In Ashton
Saturday marked the last day of this year’s American Dog Derby Race in Ashton. The tradition has been going strong since 1917.
Event co-chair Rhonda Casper said that the key to the event is public funding and volunteers.
This year, over 42 teams from around the country came to eastern Idaho to compete in the multiple-length races.
Musher Karen Yeargain said she traveled two days to arrive in Ashton with her 10-dog team. She said being on the trails with her dogs is what she likes doing best.
Other community members such as Vicki Byra said they come out to the event every year because of their strong love for the animals.
