Teen Killed In Boating Accident On Ririe Reservoir

A fourteen-year-old girl died from injuries she suffered in a boating accident on Ririe Reservoir. Another 14-year-old girl was injured. Both the girls were riding on tubes from behind the boat when another boat accidently hit the girls.

Tuesday evening before 6 o’clock Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office and Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office responded to the reservoir. They found the two girls in the water. One was airlifted to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center while the other was taken by ambulance.

Sergeant Jeff Edwards, Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office, said the two boats were in an area of the reservoir called The Narrows. He said there are blind corners in the area and that’s where the two boats side-swiped each other.

Edwards said there were at least six people in the two boats. They were all located and deputies were talking to them to understand exactly what happened. Edwards expected to have more information sometime Wednesday morning.
