Eastern Aquatic Noxious Weed Found In Eastern Idaho
Most of us hear about terrestrial weeds, but aquatic weeds can be just as dangerous to the environment.
That’s why the Bonneville County Weed Control spent the last three days looking for weeds from Henry’s Lake to Idaho Falls.
One of the target weeds is Curly Leaf Pond Weed.
“Maybe 2 to 5 percent of all the weeds we pull up are going to be the Curly Leaf Pond Weed. It is probably the second worst weed in the eastern United States. We have found that here, but it doesn’t seem to be causing the economic damage the others do, so we are just monitoring it now,” said Jeffery Pettingill of the Bonneville County Weed Control.
The weed can be transferred by ducks or boats. Bonneville Weed Control recommends you to clean all vegetation off your boat at the dock and leave it to dry on land.
