Retailers: Labor Day Sales Look Good
If you aren’t celebrating Labor Day at the fair, you might have taken advantage of the big holiday sales this weekend.
From furniture to RVs to computers, they are all on sale this Labor Day weekend.
Retailers tell us they didn’t see ?floods? of customers come through their doors, but some folks were out there looking for the best deal.
“We’re just out looking for a chair for our grandpa,? Odells furniture customer Cory Steglneier said. ?We don’t have to work so we thought it would be a good idea to check out the sales.”
“My dad gave me a little bit of birthday money, and I figure it might be a little bit cheaper this weekend with the sales,” said Best Buy customer Staci Smith.
It was a slow Monday morning at Bish’s RV as well, but sales manager Ron Baker said things are looking up from last year.
“I think this year is better,? Baker said. ?We did a lot of business Thursday, Friday, even Saturday. It’s been a little slow this morning but hopefully it’s because they’re camping. But this year has been better than last.”
While the Christmas shopping season is the best time of the year for retailers, holiday weekends bring in a big chunk of their customers.
“We have to treat every customer that comes in like they will never come back,? said Best Buy manager Justin Naifeh. ?Over holidays especially because we are getting in those new people, so we make the most of it.”
And as retailers mark down their prices, consumers said they are more likely to buy.
“With sales I guess it encourages me because prices are a little bit cheap, and I’m on break right now, so I figured I would come take a look to see if there are any electronics I could use for college,? Best Buy customer Dustin McMurtrey said. ?You know they are going to have sales because everyone does on Labor Day,? Cory Steglneier said.
