Jeffs Sends Mail To Local Government Agencies
Polygamist Warren Jeffs and his supporters have bombarded Madison and Fremont counties with letters and information packets.
The counties have received literature and prophecies, including handwritten letters from Jeffs.
Jeffs is the leader of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
He is serving a life term, plus 20 years, in a Texas prison for sexually assaulting two young girls he claimed as his wives.
South Dakota county officials have reported receiving similar letters and packages from Jeffs and his supporters.
Fremont County Commission Chairman Skip Hurt says most of the documents have gone unopened and were thrown in the garbage.
