Man Enters Plea Agreement In Zions Bank Robbery

John H. Green, who is accused of robbing Zions Bank in Rexburg in January 2010, entered an Alford plea Friday under a binding plea agreement.

An Alford plea is not an admission of guilt, but an admission from the defendant that enough evidence exists for a conviction.

Under the agreement, Madison County Prosecuting Attorney Sid H. Brown recommended dismissal of one count of burglary. In return, Green pleaded to one count of robbery, with the requirement that he be sentenced to a five year minimum, 20 year maximum prison sentence with credit for the two years he has already served, Brown said.

If 7th District Judge Greg Moeller does not accept the agreement, Green can withdraw his plea.

Green is under investigation for other crimes in Montana.

Sentencing set for March 12.
