Pocatello Police Chief Search Down To 5

Pocatello Mayor Brian Blad said the search for the new police chief has narrowed to just five candidates.

Blad said there are four in-house candidates being considered, and the fifth is being interviewed from New York City.

Capt. Mike Stayner has been acting as Interim Chief after J.R. Miller resigned in October.

The mayor wants to get the public involved on the decision-making process.

“The public can come and talk to them, get to know who they are and form an opinion on their new police chief,” Blad said.

The city will get that chance during a community forum on May 21 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers in City Hall.
