Coin Flips Decide Tied Idaho Elections

Tied races for local Republican seats in two Idaho counties were decided by the flip of a coin, underscoring the importance of voting – especially in close local races during primary elections with sparse turnout.

Thomas Lowther won the flip of the 50-cent piece in Twin Falls County on Monday, deciding his race with Don A. Zuck to become a Republican precinct committeeman.

And in Ada County, Brock Frazier correctly picked tails to beat out Roger Brown for a similar seat in Idaho’s most-populous region.

Turnout in Idaho’s May 15 primary was sparse, at just about 23 percent.

That left some precinct committeeman seats up for grabs with close votes.

After winning the flip, Frazier thanked everyone who marked his name on the ballot, saying obviously he needed them all.
