Gonzales Facing One Year For Christmas Day Stabbing
Alexis Gonzales faced a judge and jury Tuesday morning for his role in the Christmas Day stabbing in Ammon.
Police said Gonzalez was in the car that suspects drove to the house that night, but he didn’t go inside.
Gonzales is charged with harboring second degree murder defendant Joseph Chavez overnight after the stabbing.
His defense attorney said Gonzales didn’t know someone had died when he made the decision to give Chavez a place to stay after the fact.
He did admit to knowing Chavez had a knife.
Judge Watkins sentenced him to one year in a Department of Corrections Rider Program.
Gonzales was given credit for serving about 6 months in jail since the incident, instead of bonding out.
His attorney said he was able to pay bond, but chose to contemplate his actions in jail instead.
