Idaho Regulators Ban ‘Five Wives Vodka,’ Cite Offensiveness To Mormons
Idaho liquor regulators say “Five Wives Vodka” – a product from a Utah distillery – is in bad taste and they won’t stock bottles or take special orders.
The bottle label shows five women tucking up their skirts.
Idaho regulators told a distributor for Ogden’s Own Distillery that because the concept of Fives Wives Vodka is offensive to a large part of Idaho’s population they won’t authorize it for distribution at state liquor stores.
Idaho State Liquor Division administrator Jeff Anderson tells The Associated Press that his state liquor stores already carry hundreds of brands of vodka and the middle-shelf “Fives Wives Vodka” is nothing special.
Anderson says the brand is offensive to Mormons who make up just over a quarter of Idaho’s population.
