Marchand named Pocatello’s new chief of police

After a nationwide search, Pocatello’s mayor has named a new chief of police.

Mayor Brian Blad announced that Lt. Scott Marchand will lead Pocatello’s Police Department.

Since J.R. Miller resigned as chief last October, Mike Staynor has been serving as interim chief.

Mayor Blad said Marchand has some great plans for the departments future.

“He’s a good solid leader, which we need. And he’s a guy that has a vision, he’s really excited about moving forward in the community, Making the police department part of the community and the community part of the police department,” Blad said.

Marchand won’t officially have the job until he’s confirmed by the city council on Thursday.
