Rexburg boy faces 13 theft-related counts
A 17-year-old Rexburg boy was arrested after a Rexburg police bicycle officer said he caught him in the act of a vehicle break-in Monday night.
The boy was named in a juvenile petition that included 13 criminal counts ranging from burglary and attempted burglary to petty theft.
Police Capt. Randy Lewis says the boy was arrested after the bike officer spotted him looking into a vehicle in a residential area at 12:06 am Tuesday. The boy was in possession of lock-picking items, as well as on probation for a controlled substance charge, Lewis said.
Police have recovered credit cards and cash allegedly taken in several recent vehicle burglaries.
The boy is being held in the 5C Detention facility
