Rexburg burglary suspect arrested

A burglary suspect who escaped from police during questioning is back in custody and facing the possibility of new charges. 18 year old Derek Neils Anderson of Rexburg was under investigation for a July 5th burglary when he ran away from the Rexburg Police Department. Anderson was arrested in Idaho Falls Monday night and charged with felony burglary and grand theft.

Rexburg Police Captain Randy Lewis says an additional charge of either delaying and obstructing a police officer or escape is pending.

Police believe Anderson, along with Bryce Jon Hoffman and Timothy Edwin Fagergren, both 18 and both of Rexburg, were involved in the theft over $20 thousand in property from a Hillview Drive home. The stolen merchandise was recovered.
