Teton County unemployment rate declines

The Wyoming Department of Workforce Services reports a high number of young people leaving school and joining the job market led to a slight increase in the state’s unemployment rate in June. Senior economist David Bullard said the rate increased from 5.2 percent in May to 5.4 percent in June. Wyoming’s jobless rate was considerably lower than the 6 percent rate posted a year ago and well below the current U.S. rate of 8.2 percent.

Teton County was one of two counties to record a decrease in unemployment, down from 8.7 percent in May to 5.2 percent in June.

The Lincoln County unemployment rate dropped from 7.2 percent to 7.1 percent. Even so, Lincoln County posted the highest county unemployment rate in Wyoming.
