1 killed, 1 injured in Snake River boating accident

One woman is dead and a man is in the hospital after their boat capsized on the Snake River.

Lisa Ann Keating, 44, of Idaho Falls, died in the accident.

The Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office said it happened 6 to 7 miles north of the Byington boat ramp on the South Fork near Table Rock Road.

Sheriff Paul Wilde said around 3:15 p.m., the boat hit a log and ejected Keating and her husband, Raymond.

Wilde said Raymond was able to swim to shore, but Lisa was missing for some time. Lisa became tangled in the ropes that were attached to the boat which took her under, Wilde said.

An AirIdaho rescue helicopter spotted the boat and Lisa, but the sheriff said she showed no signs of life after being pulled from the water.

Raymond was taken to the hospital, where he’s being treated. We are working to learn his condition.

Others who spent the day on the South Fork said the high winds made for some rough waters.

The boat has been recovered and removed from the river.
