‘American Idol’ hopefuls prepare for Idaho Falls auditions

Singers in eastern Idaho will get to showcase their talent as “American Idol” auditions come to Idaho Falls.

Locals expect a lot of people to audition Saturday at Snake River Landing, but one “Idol” hopeful has quite the story.

She’s auditioned for the hit show once before and made to Hollywood. This time, the 20-year-old says she’s even more ready to go all the way.

On the eve of “American Idol’s” first-ever small town bus tour stop in Idaho Falls, we took to the social networks to find out who would be there.

That’s how we found Sloan Sperl, who now goes by Sloan Dalley. The Pocatello newlywed and guitar instructor recalls a trying experience from her last “Idol” audition in 2008.

“When I tried out, the judges loved me,” Dalley said. “A couple of months later I went back for the next round, and the judges didn’t really pay attention to me. They were laughing behind the little table area and they just kind of laughed me off the stage and said, ‘No, we’re not interested.'”

Dalley swore she’d never sing again, but that didn’t last long.

“I decided to channel that energy, and I ended up writing a bunch of different songs,” Dalley remembers of her post-audition struggle.

She says she’s ready to channel that energy as she auditions for season 12.

“I’m just really excited to do it,” Dalley said. “It’s gonna be lots of fun.”

There is one small hold up, though.

“My sister-in-law is getting married tomorrow,” Dalley grinned.

Still, Dally’s husband, Josh, understands his wife’s need to follow her dream.

“I’m glad that she decided to do it, and not just kind of back out because of a bad experience she had before,” Josh Dalley said.

The couple is hopeful that the “Idol” experience will be a little more positive the second time around.

“Ever since my last audition, I’ve just been working and you know, playing shows with our band,” Sloan Dalley said. “I feel a lot more experienced on stage. I feel definitely more comfortable.”

Sloan says she will change out of her wedding attire before she heads to the auditions, after the early morning nuptials.
