Chukars defeat Ogden in 15th

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho — It took 15 innings, but the Idaho Falls Chukars beat Ogden 6-5 Monday night at Melaleuca Field.

Ogden’s Alan Garcia walked Adrian Martinez with the bases loaded and one out in the bottom of the 15th to give Idaho Falls the win.

It’s the first time the Chukars have won three straight at home to begin a half of the season since the Greybirds beat the Casper Ghosts in three straight to begin the first half of 2009.

Matthew Strahm (1-1) pitched the final four innings for the Chukars, earning the victory. Ali Williams started the game for Idaho Falls, going five innings with six strikeouts. Williams gave up three runs on four hits and two walks.

The victory, combined with an Orem loss, puts the Chukars one game behind the Owlz for first place. Idaho Falls hosts Ogden Tuesday night in the second game of a three-game set.
