Man threatens self with gun at hotel
Police responded to a call of a man with a gun at the Red Lion Hotel in Pocatello on Monday night.
Officers said they responded to the hotel on Pocatello Creek Road after a call from witnesses about a man having a gun in his hotel room. When police arrived, the man was exiting his room with the gun. Several officers confronted him. When he failed to comply, he was Tased and disarmed.
Police said they believe the man was only threatening to harm himself, although a minor, likely a family member, was in the room.
Charges are pending as the investigation is still under way.
The man is in custody and receiving mental evaluations at the Portneuf Medical Center.
