School supply drive to be held in Idaho Falls

An event Saturday will benefit students and teachers in the Idaho Falls area.

A Pack the Bus school supply drive will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Walgreens on the corner of 17th and Ammon. The drive will benefit school districts 91 and 93.

According to a news release, since funding for local schools has been cut back over the years, teachers have had to pay for a lot of the students’ school supplies out of their own pockets. This school supply drive is to help out the teachers and the students.

Volunteer teachers from both districts will be there to collect school supplies and donations. They need No. 2 pencils, pink erasers, spiral notebooks, glue bottles, crayons, 12-inch rulers, colored pencils and backpacks.

The Friends in Service Here (FISH) organization will distribute the supplies to students who need them.

The event is also sponsored by Potelco United Credit Union, Walgreens, Local News 8 and school districts 91 and 93.
