Montpelier man dies in crash

A Montpelier man died in a one-vehicle crash Thursday.

Idaho State Police say that Richard Phelps, 49, was driving south on Bench Road, south of Airport Road, when the pickup truck he was driving went off the road.

Phelps over-corrected, came back on the road and over-corrected again, causing the pickup to roll.

Police say he was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle. He died at the scene.

The crash is under investigation. Phelps’ family has been notified.
