Man leads police on 3-county search

A man who fled on foot from a traffic stop in Fremont County on Monday night was arrested Tuesday afternoon in Jefferson County.

Eric Ferguson, 29, of Jefferson County, is being held in the Jefferson County Jail in Rigby.

The incident began at about 8:15 p.m. Monday when the Madison County Sheriff’s Office requested assistance on a traffic stop after the driver sped into Fremont County. The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office said that by the time its deputy caught up to the vehicle, the driver had driven off the east side of the road, abandoned the car and was running away on foot.

A Fremont County warrant was issued Tuesday, and Ferguson was arrested by a Jefferson County deputy at about 1 p.m.
