Funeral arrangements announced as electrocution investigation continues

Many hearts are still aching across eastern Idaho after three people were killed last week when they went into an electrically charged Blackfoot irrigation ditch trying to save a dog and then each other.

Funeral services have been announced for Jackie Poulson, Keith Tarpley and Lance Hicks.

Poulson’s funeral will be at Idaho State University’s Holt Arena on Wednesday at 1 p.m. A visitation was held Tuesday night in Pocatello.

Visitation for Keith Tarpley will be Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hawker Funeral Home in Blackfoot. Funeral services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at the same place.

The family of Lance Hicks is planning a “celebration of life” Friday. A time and location have not been released yet.

Bowers Collision in Blackfoot is accepting donations to help with funeral costs for all three families.

As far as the investigation into what happened last Thursday night, Idaho Power said there was a fault on the system somewhere beyond the service meter and the company’s point of delivery.

Sheriff Dave Johnson said detectives should know more by Wednesday night after the state inspector and Idaho Power visit the site.

Johnson said they will determine an exact location and hopefully, a cause.
