Rexburg sets 2013 budget

The City of Rexburg held a council meeting Wednesday night to approve its 2013 budget.

City Treasurer Richard Horner said finances look pretty similar to years past.

There will be a slight increase in sewer fees. They will go up by $3 to $4 a month.

Water fees will be raised by just $0.30 a month.

Garbage and lighting will stay the same.

Horner said the city has decided to put off several capital projects this year, lowering the budget below the publicized $51 million down to $50 million.

Horner said balancing the budget is important, but things are looking up.

“The economy in Idaho basically bottomed out last year and it’s starting to creep up. Sales taxes are going up, which means sales are increasing,” said Horner.

The budget had been open for public comment for about a month.

The Legacy Flight Museum air show was one project that has been dropped from the budget for a year.
