Police: Man gets officer in choke hold in littering incident

Police arrested a Pocatello man after a confrontation with officers Wednesday night.

Police said a patrol officer watched Lony M. Bissegger, 23, throw debris out the passenger side window of a mini-van.

After the officer pulled over the vehicle, Bissegger exited and started arguing with the officer, striking the policeman in the chest and pulling him into a choke hold, according to a news release from police.With the help of a citizen, the officer was able to escape and take Bissegger into custody. The officer suffered minor cuts to his right arm.

Bissegger was charged with battery on an officer, a felony.He also faces additional misdemeanor counts including littering, resisting and obstructing, manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance, and possession of paraphernalia.
