Fire tears through Idaho Falls home
A house fire broke out Wednesday night at 2141 N. Gladys Drive in Idaho Falls.
Firefighters who first arrived on scene discovered flames shooting from the front door.
Once the fire was knocked down from the outside firefighters advanced through the front door and heavy fire was encountered from the front room down the hallway to a back bedroom.
The owner of the home was at the curb and told firefighters he was the only one there and there was no one else inside the structure.
Firefighters where able to quickly knock down the fire. The house, however, was completely gutted. Firefighters worked Thursday to clear debris and steady the collapsing roof.
Fire Inspector Joe Nichols was called to the scene for investigation of cause and origin. Because there is so much debris in the home, Nichols said Thursday that he likely was not going to determine the fire’s cause that day. However, Nichols has ruled out any sort of furnace as a possible cause.
Damage is estimatedat $180,000.
No one was hurt.
