Firefighters ask Idaho Falls community to help ‘Fill the Boot’
You may have noticed firefighters walking through traffic on 17th Street and Woodruff Thursday morning.
That’s because they’re asking for your help in filling their boots with donations for a special cause.
Every year, firefighters across the country hang out on street corners for donations to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
It’s something the Idaho Falls Fire Department has been helping out with for decades.
Firefighters say last year, they raised close to $19,000 for the MDA and they hope to beat that number this time around.
“Last year was the first year for several that we haven’t been the second-place raiser in the state,” said Mark Pitcher, firefighter. “Ammon beat us out last year by a couple thousand dollars but usually it’s Boise and then Idaho Falls.”
The firefighters will be out again on Friday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the same location.
