Father arrested after baby hospitalized
A 30-year-old Idaho Falls man is in jail, charged with two counts of aggravated battery after an investigation of injuries to his 2-month-old son.
Idaho Falls Police said they arrested Frederick Russell Kern on Thursday following an investigation that began Sunday night.
Police said the infant was brought into Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center around 6:15 p.m. Sunday and flown to Primary Children’s Medical Center in Salt Lake City later that night.
Police said the baby sustained injuries consistent with shaken baby syndrome.
They said the child was in Kern’s care at the time of the incident.
