Lifelong Idaho Falls bowler still enjoys hitting the lanes
Bowling is said to be one of the world’s most participatory sports.
“My favorite ball is a strike of course,” said David Fisher, a lifelong bowler.
If you’ve ever been to Skyline Lanes in Idaho Falls on a Thursday afternoon, you’ve probably seen David Fisher.
“I can throw gutter balls as well, and I often do,” said Fisher.
David is 91-years-old and has been bowling for decades. He won the Idaho Falls City Bowling Championship back in 1960 and said his highest game was 287 points.
With his four-step approach, strong arm swing and lucky 12-pound-ball, he said he tries to make it to Skyline at least twice a week to enjoy one of his passions.
“It’s fun when you’re on a team, in a league and bowling with your friends and people you know,” said Fisher. “It’s kind of a social event, especially for the women it seems like.”
Like any other true athlete, David’s advice for aspiring bowlers is to practice, practice, practice.
Fisher said having the right bowling ball can make all the difference during a game. Experts said your bowling ball should be at least 10 percent of your body weight.
